Cisco NCS-5501-SE is a Cisco NCS 5500 series network platform designed for carrier-class Ethernet, metro aggregation, service provider, data center interconnect and high-capacity network applications. The NCS-5501-SE provides 40 ports of 1GE/10GE and 4 ports of 40GE/100GE. It supports IOS XR 64-bit software running on an 8-core x86 CPU at 2GHz and is suitable for telecom network expansion, replacement, maintenance and spare parts support.
The Cisco NCS-5501-SE includes management ports with 3 RJ45 ports, one for console and two for management LAN ports. Flexible forwarding ports include 4x100GE with QSFP28 optics, QSFP+ optics support for 40GE and 4x10GE breakout options, and 40x10GE with SFP+ or SFP optics to support 1GE speed. The platform supports up to 800Gbps system throughput and up to 2M FIB entries. Power and cooling features include two hot-swappable power supplies for 1+1 redundancy, reversible airflow depending on power supply PID and two hot-swappable fan trays for redundant system cooling.
